Packed four sandwiches for a picnic by just leaving the bento box out, then used it with the insert for a proper lunch the next day. The little fork clips in nicely too, so nothing rattles around. Honestly the most versatile lunch container I've owned.
Didn't expect to use it both ways but I do — four sandwiches fit fine when I skip the insert, and with it in, my fruit and crackers stay separate instead of mushing together. The little fork actually stays clipped in place, which is more than I can say for my old one.
The bento box insert comes out so it fits four sandwiches when I don't feel like packing a proper lunch, and slides back in for salad days. The fork actually clips inside instead of rattling around loose. Been using it daily for two weeks and no leaks yet.
